Large parts of the forests in the Sauerland region have been severely weakened as a result of drought, storms and infestation by bark beetles. Vast areas of bare, lifeless wood deserts characterize the landscape. Deforestation, transport and storage of thousands of trunks accompany the disastrous destruction of nature.
